About Me
My name is Ms. Cecily Cano. My interest in photography started at the age of 13, when I took my first traditional photo class at the Phoenix Center for the Arts one summer. I began taking photography classes as a high school student at Central High School with Ms. Mariahazy, and I was involved in Photo Club and the Visions program as well. After high school, I decided to major in Fine Art Photography at Arizona State University. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Photography in 2009. I decided that I wanted to become an art teacher soon after, and I earned my Master's Degree in Secondary Education in 2011. I student taught with my favorite photo teacher, Ms. Mariahazy, at Central that same year. After student teaching, I taught Art 1-2 at Carl Hayden High School. I was excited to be part of the school district that I graduated from, but I knew that I eventually wanted to teach at my former high school, Central. In my 5th year of teaching, I got hired at Central, and I love teaching Traditional Photography!
